A teacher sparked my interest in military history in primary school. He had been a spitfire pilot during the Second World War, and I found his stories captivating. I was an avid reader and spent hours buried in every military history book I could find. In my early teens I swore an oath to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and put on an Air Cadet uniform. It hooked me on the military! At 17, I joined the Canadian Army Reserve as an infanteer. A few years later, I transferred to the regular force (Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry - PPCLI). I have served on operational tours of duty in Egypt, Israel (Golan Heights) and two tours in the former Yugoslavia. During my military career I have instructed recruits, trades level training for soldiers, leadership training for NCO’s and Officers and was an Instructor at the Canadian Forces Officer Candidate School.
Following my second tour in the former Yugoslavia, I accepted a position to work with the United Nations. This brought me back to the Balkans where I served in Croatia, Bosnia and North Macedonia in senior management positions in Logistics.
I now live in the Republic of North Macedonia, pursuing my interest in military history and focusing on Battlefield protection, study and tourism. I have a passion for the history of the Macedonian Campaign, which I combine with my own military experience when guiding to help my audience imagine what the soldiers experienced in order to bring the battlefield to life.
